March to June is the most popular time to do bungy jumping as there is warm weather, clear skies, and great energy at the jump sites. But it gets seriously crowded, especially from April to June. Pre-book or you risk making the trip for nothing.
October to February is quieter, less crowded, and honestly a more relaxed experience. February is a personal favourite as the weather is just starting to warm up and you can usually walk in without stressing over advance bookings.
Monsoon starts from July till mid-September is a straight no. Most operators shut down during the heavy rainfall otherwise remain open.
The best time for bungy jumping is at 10 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 6 PM.
Morning is great because you are fresh, the gorge is cool, queues are short, and the light is clean and bright meaning a great for your jump video. If you are someone who overthinks things, jumping first thing in the morning also means you do not spend the whole day building up anxiety!
Late afternoon between 4 PM and 6 PM is actually the best for videos and photos — the golden hour light makes everything look stunning and your jump footage comes out far more dramatic.
Avoid midday if you can as it gets hot, crowded, and the harsh light does not do your video any favours.

Yes — couple bungee is a dedicated variant where two people jump simultaneously in a shared tandem harness system. It is not two separate cords — the entire setup is calibrated for the combined weight of both jumpers. Both participants must be within the combined weight range of up to 180 kg for all the spots except Jumping height which allows maximum weight of 160 kg in couple bungy jumping. depending on the spot you choose. You can also do it with your friend, family member. It is called tandem bungee jump.

There is no strict upper age limit, but participants must be in good physical health and free from the listed medical conditions. The minimum weight for bungee jumping in Rishikesh is 45 kg for most operators including Himalayan Bungy, Splash Bungy and Jumping Heights. Thrill Factory has minimum weight limit of 40 kg. The maximum weight allowed is 110 kg across all operators.
For couple bungee jumping, the combined weight must be between 80 kg and 180 kg at Himalayan Bungy, Splash Bungy & Thrill factory. Jumping heights has a weight limit of Maximum 160 kg for tandem/couple bungee jumping.
These limits are not flexible and for a very good reason — the bungee cord is mechanically calibrated to your exact weight before every jump. Falling outside the safe weight range makes the rebound calculation unsafe. So please give your accurate weight at check-in — do not try to fudge the numbers. It is for your own safety.
You will not be permitted to jump if you have: heart conditions or history of heart surgery, high blood pressure, epilepsy, back or spinal injuries, recent surgery within the past six months, pregnancy, or severe anxiety disorders. You must also fall within the weight range of 40–110 kg and be at least 14 years old. If you take regular prescription medication, disclose it at check-in. These criteria are directly tied to cord physics — not arbitrary rules. Before every jump, jump masters ask for the medical conditions, please tell them if you have any medical condition before bungee jumping.
Yes at certified operators. Jumpin Heights and Himalayan Bungy both operate under New Zealand safety standards, the global benchmark for bungee cord systems. Equipment is inspected before every single jump, not just daily. Splash Bungy & Maa Ganga Bungee also follows UK safety standards for the bungy jumping making it very safe to do bungy jump. All the jump masters are professionally trained with many years of experience. Staff are also trained in emergency response. Bucketlistt verifies all the safety equipments and certificates of all these bungee jumping spots for the safety purpose.
Yes. In November 2025, a bungee jumping accident occurred at one of the operators in the Shivpuri area of Rishikesh. The cause was traced to a mismatched cord and hook — bungee jumping cords are colour-coded (black, green, red) based on the jumper's weight, and each cord must be hooked to its matching colour hook. In this bungy jumping incident at Rishikesh the wrong hook was used, and when the cord rebounded after the first jump, the mismatched hook could not handle the pressure and broke. The jumper fell but survived the bungee jumping incident.
This is exactly why choosing a verified, safety-compliant operator matters. Always check that the operator follows proper cord and hook colour-matching protocol before your jump.
At certified sites your safety is of topmost priority when bungee jumping. The cord is calibrated to your exact weight before every jump (not reused from the previous jumper's settings). A safety harness is double-checked by two separate staff members. All the bungy jumping participants must sign a medical declaration form & a waiver form. Safety gears like ankle harness and backup body harness is inspected before each bungee jump in Rishikesh. Emergency response staff are stationed below the platform in the rare cases of bungee jumping incident. A thorough safety briefing of 10–15 minutes is conducted before every single bungee jump in Rishikesh.
Five types are available in Rishikesh: Standard Bungee (classic feet-first drop from a fixed platform), Water Splash Bungee (cord calibrated to touch the Ganges river at the lowest point — India's biggest water splash bungee), Reverse Bungee (launched upward 180 feet from the ground in a harness cage), Couple Bungee (two people jump simultaneously in tandem harnesses), and Freestyle Bungee (you choose your exit — flip, spin, or dive). Each has its own pricing and produces a genuinely different experience.
The water splash bungee — also called Splash Bungee — is calibrated so that at the lowest point of your drop, your hands or head make contact with the Ganges river. The cord length is precisely calculated to your weight to make this happen intentionally. It combines the freefall sensation with the shock of cold Himalayan river water at the bottom of the drop. Available in the Shivpuri zone. Come in clothes you're happy getting wet. Pricing ranges from ₹3,500 to ₹5,000.
There are no strict rules on what to wear in bungee jumping , you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
For men, a t-shirt and jeans is the most practical and comfortable option. For women, t-shirt and jeans or shorts work best. Avoid loose tops, dresses, sarees, or any flowing fabric — it flaps aggressively during freefall and can be distracting and uncomfortable.
Wear shoes and sandals. Leave the slippers and chappals behind as they will fly off the moment you do the bungy jump.
Remove all jewellery, watches, and piercings before your jump. You will be given a secure locker to store all your belongings including your phone. Phones are not allowed on the tower.
Avoid heavy meals for at least 2–3 hours before your bungee jump. The inverted bounce-back position is where a full stomach causes problems like vomiting while bungy jumping. Eat only light snacks like fruit or biscuits.
No alcohol before jumping is prohibited. You will not be allowed to bungy jump if you’re under any intoxication.
The first half-second is pure shock — your body has no reference point for it. Then approximately 2 seconds of clear, unusually quiet freefall where most people report everything slowing down. Then the cord engages and the bounce begins, which feels much gentler than the drop. Most people describe it as 'shorter than expected and longer than anything else that short has ever felt.' Almost universally, people say they want to go again immediately after landing.

In normal bungee jumping, the safety harness is tied to your ankles and you simply push off the platform — it is the classic bungee experience. An additional full body harness is also attached for extra safety in normal bungee. Freestyle bungee is more fun and gives you more control — the harness is tied to your full body, allowing you to do front flips, backflips, and any stunts you like during the freefall. Tandem bungee jumps are always freestyle. The 117 metre jump at Himalayan Bungy is ankle-tied only, while all other platforms in Rishikesh offer freestyle jumping.
Yes. First timers and complete beginners are welcome at all bungee jumping operators in Rishikesh. A thorough safety briefing and jump instructions are given to every participant before the jump, so you will know exactly what to expect when you step off that platform.
